We were driving to the store recently and in the grass and on posts, at the ball field in our little town, we saw these hawks. They appeared to be juveniles (new fledglings perhaps). The parents were also in the area. They were obviously better at flying as one of the young ones flew into a tree and then flew low just over our heads before landing on the fence. The other one never left the ground, but continued finding insects and things to consume the whole time we were there while the other kept watch.

Northern Saw-whet Owl

]]>A tip, along with some whitewash & pellets on the sidewalk, helped me locate this adorable little owl. He/she was pretty low in the branches overhanging the sidewalk, so I was able to get some pretty close shots. He was so cute, I could hardly stand it! I hope you enjoy this series. It's obvious this little cutie wasn't at all threatened by my presence.

This past weekend, my husband and I went up to our local mountains to see some beautiful scenery and snow. We just wanted to get away alone for a while and enjoy each other's company in God's beautiful creation. He blessed us with falling snow for much of our day. I didn't take nearly the pictures that I usually do, and most of the ones we took were with our little family point & shoot camera. What a special time we had together! I'm so thankful.

]]>A friend of mine told me about some hummingbirds that had nested on her porch. When they first hatched, (the usual 2 eggs that were laid) I was in the middle of shooting stills for an independent film (a 2 week committment-photos from that to come) and couldn't get there until they were just about ready to leave the nest. Most of these were shot through the window...

I sure enjoyed watching and photographing them. I hope you enjoy viewing the photos I took.

Photos taken at Bald Eagle Day 2010, in Boise Idaho. This annual even is held at the Idaho Shakespeare Festival, and borders the Barber Pool Conservation Area. It's the perfect place to hold it as nesting Bald Eagles and other birds and wildlife can be spotted, through scopes and with the naked eye, in the cottonwood trees & sometimes souring in the skies from the path along the pool area.
